Nissan 370z: Perhaps the best kept secret

After owning a bunch of sports cars (including a 1990 Nissan 300ZX) until I was a parent, the time finally came to decide upon another sedan in the 20,000+ price range. On a whim, I decided to inquire about used Nissan 370z cars and found an unbelievable deal in early January in another state!! The price was too good to be true, however this was one of those times when opportunity and great timing intersected. I drove the car for 2 hours where it was located (Chicago), bought it and drove it back home to Maryland - what a GREAT DRIVE!! This car has an unusual number of refinements for a sports car, and can be used comfortably as an ever day commuters car as well as a fun performance car to enjoy the 2 lane back roads with. The engine is smooth and has GOBS of power, and the breaks stop the car almost instantly. It took me awhile to get used to shifting the gears, there was a bit of a learning curve for me getting into second gear smoothly. Now the engine just purrs as you go from first to 6th. The ride, while Firm, is less punishing than you would expect from a car with such good performance. The noise level is moderate at high speeds, however that is likely from my tire choice. About the only fault I can find with this car is that you need to get good using the side and rear view mirrors because seeing out of the side pillars is quite limited unless the passengers seat is scooted way forward. There are very few things that will bring a wide smile to your face as quickly as driving this car on a twisty two lane back road. As an interesting comparison, I drove two exotic cars back to back at a friends house then hopped back in my 370z. The cars were a Ferrari, and a Porsche 911. Of course the Ferrari had significantly more power (and noise) and the Porsche was smoother and a much faster car....however I was not disappointed returning to the 370z realizing the cars market value was about 10% of the other two cars driven. Only 4 months with this machine, but what a ride so far! A thrill to drive. We get lookers and comments every time we run. Still learning its limits, if there are any. What a true sports coupe. Makes me proud to own. High quality design and build. Impressive fit and finish. Solid. Exceeds expectations. Love my pearl white Z! - 5.0
